Protaras

Protaras is located to the north of Cape Greko and only a 15 minute drive from the lively town of Ayia Napa.  Families, couples, party goers or those wanting the quite life, Protaras is the place to be.

In Protaras you will find the fabulous golden sandy beaches which stretch over 10 miles and inviting crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean.  Fig Tree Bay is one of the most idyllic settings.  While lying on the beach, soaking up the hot sun or indeed for the more energetic, try one of the many water sports available.  Jet skiing, paragliding, water skiing among others are all on site.  Why not try the freedom and serenity of scuba diving at one of the many local sites available. 

When the day is over, you will have the opportunity to decide which of Protaras vast array of restaurants you will try that evening.  In Protaras you are able to try freshly grilled fish in one of the open-air seafood restaurants.  You can choose from one of the numerous cuisines ranging from Thai, Italian to Indian and many others. Protaras also offers an excellent choice of taverns, nightclubs and bars. Alternatively, before your meal take a ten minute relaxing walk to Penera along the seafront and watch the sunset.

The elegant Prophet Elias church (as shown above in the 360 Panoramic view) stands on a hill 100 meters high and has a panoramic view of the entire town and a stunning sea view.  For the energetic amongst you, try climbing the 300 steps to the top, you will agree the view is breathtaking.  Visit the tiny church and maybe loose yourself in the tranquility.  

The entire length of the main coastal road from Paralimni via Protaras and into Ayia Napa (about 15km) is lined with a large pedestrian route ideal for walkers and bikers alike.

The shops in Protaras provide everything required by holidaymakers from beach paraphernalia to souvenirs for that all important gift for your loved ones. There are at least one hundred retail establishments in the resort including supermarkets, clothing stores and jewelers.

For those wishing to explore further, Paphos is only a two hour drive away.
